ABOUT
Mathias has always had an artistic soul and a desire to create and express. He has been exploring different mediums as outlets for his creative voice since he was very young. From traditional mediums like drawing, ink, alcohol markers, and painting, to digital art (which he has been doing since he was 13), he’s always eager to try different mediums. He also grew up sewing, cross-stitching, costuming, playing with makeup, and crafting props out of whatever he could get his hands on.

He adores the world of imagination and fantasy— he can be found playing D&D on weekends and still remembers how reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson and watching Lord of the Rings as a teen cracked open his love for fantasy. He also deeply loves nature and animals, and connects to the world around him in more ways than just visual art, including witchcraft, mythology, tarot, dance, ritual, and quiet nature walks. These passions all shape his art in kind, and are facets of his life he loves to share through tattooing.

Mathias began his apprenticeship in July 2023 and graduated in May 2025, and has been at The Collective since July 2025. He’s loved the shop and his fellow artists, and has loved exploring the wide possibilities of style within tattooing as a learning artist. He still loves to explore new methods and styles of creating, but his favorite things to tattoo involve lots of colors, woodcut and etching vibes, illustrative styles, and elements that call back to the ancient, folkloric, and magical.

As a neurodivergent, queer transmasc person, a witch, a pagan, and a learning death doula, he loves to explore the ‘taboo’. In everything he does, he wants to help people reclaim their power and face their fears, and to be a companion for people navigating grief and change. He loves working with people in the midst of transformation and transition. He’s always looking to bring more of that into his tattooing, and offers ritual and spellcraft work for a sacred, intentional tattoo experience. He loves this craft and all of the ways tattoo artists interact with the world through their art, and is so grateful to have the opportunity to do that as well.
