ABOUT
Kelsie is the person behind Kelkashi. She’s a ’90s baby who never really grew out of the things she loved as a kid. Things like cartoons, anime, video games, music, and all the weird little pieces of visual storytelling that made those worlds feel so real. She loves art that feels immersive, expressive, whimsical, and a little unexpected, especially when something bubbly and cute meets something weird and dark.
Kelsie has always felt more comfortable expressing herself through her work than through words. She loves that art can communicate who we are, what we’re feeling, or what’s happening in our lives without having to spell everything out. There’s room for interpretation. You can find the parts that mean something to you and leave the rest behind. Somehow, something so personal can still become a way of connecting with someone else.
That’s what she loves about tattooing. She gets to hear about the things that people love, the stories behind them, and why certain characters, memories, music, or ideas have stayed with them. She loves taking those pieces of someone’s world and turning them into something they can carry with them. There’s something badass about choosing to put a piece of yourself on display while still getting to decide how much of yourself you want to reveal.
Kelsie believes the world is better when people are allowed to be expressive, individual, weird, whimsical, and unapologetically themselves. Your art doesn’t have to make sense to everyone. It just has to mean something to you.
Ultimately, she’s just an emotional little art nerd who loves making things and connecting with people. She’ll probably talk your ear off while you’re getting tattooed, put on something she’s currently obsessed with, and get way too excited talking about whatever you’re into. For Kelsie, creating has always been more than just making art. It’s a way of connecting, communicating, and making sense of the weirdness of being alive. Getting to do that with other people for a living is something she’ll always be grateful for.
